to find the priest, and to have a german family
Danneil with us who could read the old Frieschan

Related through my Danneil Grand Mother maiden name Anna Ferris wife of Sebastian Heinrich Danneil.
My wife has recently traced this family connection.
The connection between Anna E.
Ferris (mother of Roland and Karl
Henry Danneil) and George Washington
Gale Ferris (inventor of the Ferris
Wheel). Anna and George were 4
th
cousins three times removed. To put it another way, Anna was the 6
th
great granddaughter, George the 3
rd

documents. Most of the information is
"generally accepted," but
some of it is merely tradition –
discounted by present day
genealogists due to lack of
documentation. With that caveat in
mind, here is some interesting
information on our common ancestor
Jeffery Ferris. Jeffery Ferris was
born about 1610 in England. According
to family tradition recorded in early
genealogies Jeffrey was the son of
Richard Ferrers of Greenwich, Kent,
England, who was a messenger in the
Queen's court. Jeffrey apparently
changed the name from Ferrers to
Ferris when he came to America. If
true, then he descends from King
Edward I. In any case, the name is
Norman French and derives from
"ferrus," Latin for iron;
and means ferrier, that is horseshoe
maker. The name is Ferrieres in
French and Ferrari (as in race cars)
in Italian. Jeffrey stood over 6
ft. tall, with blue eyes and flaming
red hair. He married three times. His
first wife, Mary, was the mother of
all his children. A tradition claims
that she was of noble birth and
married Jeffrey against the wishes of
her family, and so they fled to New
England. Her badly weathered
tombstone appears to read "Mary
.....ne." Jeffery came to
America sometime between 1630 and
1634, and was made a freeman at
Watertown, MA, on 6 May 1635. It is
assumed that Jeffrey was not a rigid
Puritan, and much of his family later
became Congregationalists and Quakers. |
