| When WXXA-TV, the Fox Network affiliate in Albany, decided to start a news program in 1996, they wanted something different: they wanted to "invite" viewers right into the station's working newsroom.
This led to the concept that the anchor desk was to be a round conference table rather than the usual, formal, desk -- often seen as a monolithic barrier between the anchors and the viewers.
Three years later, WXXA wanted to bring the same open feeling to the weather station, putting the viewers on a personal level with the meteorologist. The resulting design provides an on-camera "weather center" right next to
the chroma-key screen, as well as a practical workstation with several computers and other necessary equipment.
