As you can see, I like Butternut. It is easy to carve, has a lovely grain and finishes up well. This is "The Noble Horse". In the last show in which I competed, he took "Best in Open". He is a large carving, appoximately 12 inches tall by 4 inches thick, and 11 inches wide. Since I haven't attended anymore exhibitions, he is still mine, but is for sale.
